AICC Secretary Tom Vadakkan has said that media is playing a crucial role in promoting the present democratic movement in Egypt and some West Asian countries. Participating in a media seminar at Thiruvanathapuram, he said that the media unit of Ministry Information & Broadcasting is facilitating the functions of media in many ways. Highlighting the role played by the Indian National Congress in ensuring the development of the country over the years Vadakkan said that Fourth Estate is the pillar of democracy world wide.
