Measures being taken to tackle fake currency: RBI Governor

Expressing concerns over increasing circulation of fake currencies, particularly in the North Eastern parts, the Reserve Bank of India today said it has installed note sorting machines at all currency chests to tackle the menace. This was stated by RBI Governor D Subbarao in Gangtok in Sikkim. He said the apex bank and the government are working in active coordination to tackle the menace. Mr.Subbarao said the RBI and other banks have also launched awareness campaign among the public to enable them detect fake notes.Earlier, he presided over the meeting of the Central Board of Directors of the RBI in Gangtok.
