The measurement of all petrol pumps in Uttar Pradesh will be reassessed in the wake of pumps dispensing lesser quantity of fuel by using electronic chips in the machines. <br/><br/>Surprise inspection will also be conducted at petrol pumps in other parts of the country. <br/><br/>Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Prdhan said, teams of officers including the officials of State Weights and Measures Department and Oil Marketing Companies will conduct the assessment. <br/><br/>He said, in Uttar Pradesh STF had found chips in nine petrol pumps and after getting the report, strong action including cancellation of licenses will be taken against them. <br/><br/>Mr. Pradhan said, it is the responsibility of states to see the measurements of the pumps as Weights and Measures are under their jurisdiction. <br/><br/>He, however, said Oil Marketing Companies can not escape from their responsibility and action has been taken against two of their officers in UP after the chip incident. The Minister said, there will be no compromise with the interest of consumers.
