MDMK leader Vaiko was arrested in Coimbatore today for holding a public meeting in protest against Sri Lankan President Mahindra Rajapaksa’s visit to India. He was holding a public meeting without getting permission in the city today. He and about 300 of his followers were detained in a Kalyanamandapam in the city. Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi this evening.
