The MDMK Chief Mr. Vaiko has asked the Tamilnadu Government to reduce the VAT tax on petrol. In a release at Chennai today, Mr.Vaiko urged the State Government to consider the state of the people due to recent hike in petrol and called for a reduction in VAT. The price of petrol in the state is 77.05 rupees per litre. The Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms. J.Jayalalithaa has also cricitsed the hike in petrol prices and said that it none can accept the Centre's excuses for hiking petrol prices such as the fluctuation of crude oil prices and fallen rupee value. The DMK leader Mr. Karunanidhi said that the views of the DMK will be communicated to the UPA through its MPs.
