Noted Urdu Poet Dr. A. Mohammad Shahryar has been awarded Gangadhar National Award 2008 for his outstanding contribution in the field of national poetry at Burla, Orissa. He was given a cash award of Rs.50,000/-, Angabastra and a citation by the Vice Chancellor of Sambalpur University Prof Arun Kumar Pujari in a function organized by Sambalpur University today at Burla on its 43rd Foundation Day Celebration. This award was instituted by Sambalpur University in the memory of Oriya poet Gangadhar Meher in the year 1992.<br/>
