MCI changes norms for assessment of new medical colleges

The Medical Council of India, MCI, has decided to change the norms for assessment of new medical colleges in a bid to ensure more transparency. Board Member of MCI, Dr. Purushottam Lal said that this will also rectify the problem of fraudulent faculty.

He said that while surveying a new medical college, all matters will be video recorded. Dr. Lal said, all medical colleges will also have to update details about themselves in different websites. They will also have to update details of in-patients and bed occupancy and have a biometric system of attendance. He said that they are open to any other suggestions for process of assessment so that the need for surprise inspection of a college does not arise.
