Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh defeated former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar, by 47 votes to become the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association for the next two next years. While Deshmukh, bagged 182 votes, Vengsarkar got 135.Professor Ratnakar Shetty and Vijay Patil, were elected as Vice Presidents for the MCA. Earlier both Vilasrao Deshmukh and Vegnsarkar have served as the Vice President of the Mumbai Cricket Association. They were the only contesting candidates for the Presidential post of the MCA this year.The majority of the seats of the Mumbai Cricket assosiation have been won by the Sharad Pawar and Mhadadalkar Group. They have won 11 out of 17 seats of MCA.
