Republican Party of India leader Prakash Ambedkar has said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati should not be afraid of Congress if the party prefers to appoint a Dalit as the Prime Minister ahead of the UP polls next year.

The grandson of Dalit icon Bharat Ratna Dr. B R Ambedkar also sougt to know whether the BSP President would be unhappy if a Dalit is named to the top post by the Congress, which heads the UPA Government at the Centre.

He was speaking to media persons in Nagpur on Saturday. His reaction comes a day after the BSP President’s statement on the issue.
