In Uttar Pradesh, the Mayawati government today decided to propose the division the state into four new states of Poorvanchal, Bundelkhand, Awadh and Pashchim. This was decided at the meeting of the State cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati at Lucknow. Talking to media persons, Mayawati said, the resolution in this regard will be moved in the State Legislature during its coming winter session on 21st of this month and after its passage, it will be sent to the Centre. She alleged that previous governments of the Congress, BJP and Samajwadi Party have been responsible for the backwardness of the state.Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajinder Chaudhary said the Mayawati government decison is part of a conspiracy to weaken the political strength of Uttar Pradesh. Demanding the resignation of Mayawati he said, she is not capable of running a state like Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Chaurdhary said his party will oppose the resolution in state legislature which will be moved by the government. The Ajit Singh led, Rashtriya Lok Dal spokesperson, Anil Dubey said, his party will support the resolution moved by the UP government in the coming winter session.The Bhartyiya Janata Party has termed the UP government decision as an election gimmick.The Party's National Vice President, Kalraj Mishra said that such decisions on the division of the state should not be taken in haste.
