Mayawati doles out Rs 4000 cr projects on her 55th birthday

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has unveiled over 600 projects worth 4,000 crore rupees on the occasion of her 55th birthday today. She has also announced the implementation of Janhit Guarantee Act making government officials accountable to timely delivery of services to dalits, poor, down trodden and others. Announcing this at a function in Lucknow today she describing the Act as historic and said the idea is to fix accountability on officers who would be penalised in case of laxity. The other welfare measures announced by her today include increase of financial aid under 'Mukhyamantri Mahamaya Gareeb Arthik Madad Yojna' to 400 rupees per month from the present 300 now benefitting 31 lakh families, increase in dearness allowance for state government employees and pension by 10 percent from first of July last year, launching of Mukhyamantri Mahamaya Mobile Hospital scheme to provide medical and health facilities in remote areas in 133 blocks across 15 districts, release of poor, old and sick prisoners and centres in villages with over 5,000 population next year to provide services and information on various scheme. Mayawati said to ensure better infrastructure facilities in ancient and historical cities, the government has already launched 355 projects worth 15,000 crore rupees. She said 53 projects worth over 3,900 crore rupees have been sanctioned for Lucknow as the number of tourist increased after important places, museums and parks were named after icons belonging to SC/ST and OBC communities. Among other schemes, the government has set up a sewage treatment plant and taken up beautification work of Hazratganj and Lalbagh markets in the state capital. Mayawati criticised the opposition and a section of the media, saying that thay talk about her dress and jewellery instead of highlighting the public welfare measures taken by her government. The chief minister also released the sixth volume of her book 'Mera Jeevan Sangharsh aur BSP Movement ka Safarnama – My struggle and travelogue of BSP.
