Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has defended the actions taken during the three-day agitation of the main opposition Samajwadi Party. Talking to mediapersons in Lucknow on Thursday, she said, her government will not allow anyone to take law in to their hands. Mentioning the name of the National President of the Samajwadi, Mr. Party Mulayam Singh Yadav, she warned the opposition parties that they would face strict action if they try to make any indiscipline in the name of agitation. On the other hand, leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Shivpal Singh Yadav alleged that police and security persons have brutally beaten Samajwadi Party workers during the agitation. Claiming the agitation as totally peaceful, he alleged that on the behest of the State Government, the Administration misbehaved with the senior leaders of Samajwadi Party during the agitation. The State President of the Samajwadi Party and Member of Parliament Akilesh Yadav has said, he will move privilege motion against police and civil officers of Lucknow who have arrested him at Amausi Airport at Lucknow on Wednesday when he was on the way to his Parliamentary constituency, Kannauj.
