Maya demands funds to implement Right to Education Act

<br/>Uttar Pradesh government has demanded about 18 thousand crore rupees for implementing historical Right to education Act. The government said that more than four lakh 30 thousand teachers at Primary and upper primary level schools including regular and part time teachers are needed to plug the deficit right now besides basic infrastructures to fulfil the directives of the centre for the Act.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati herself has pointed out needs of the state to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. She said that without complete financial support from the centre for implementing the Act dreams of education cannot be fulfilled. Ms. Mayawati accepted that conditions of schedule castes and schedule tribes can be changed only through education but said, her government is not ready to bear the expenses to be occurred on the Act. She has said that her government was committed towards improving primary education but was bogged down by financial crunch it was facing to meet the basic requirements.
