Mauritius PM on a six day visit to New Delhi

Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam has arrived in New Delhi on a six-day visit to the country yesterday. A number of agreements in diverse fields are expected to be signed between the two countries during his visit. He is being accompanied by a high level Ministerial delegation, senior officials and a business delegation. The visiting dignitary will attend business events, both in New Delhi as well as in Mumbai.

Mr. Ramgoolam will call on President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice-President Mohd. Hamid Ansari and will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. He will also call on Finance Minister, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministers of State for External Affairs and UPA Chairperson.

Mr. Ramgoolam is the son of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, regarded as the Father of the Nation in Mauritius. He was a person of Indian origin from Bihar. A majority of the population in Mauritius is of Indian origin.
