In Uttar Pradesh, Maulana Rabey Hasan Nadwi has been unanimously re-elected consecutive third time as President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board AIMPLB. The election took place at 21st annual convention of AIMPLB being held at Nadwatul Uloom in Lucknow.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the board has included Deputy Chairperson Rajya Sabha Mr. K Rehman Khan and retired Justice from Supreme Court Shah Mohammad Qadri as its founder members.<br/><br/>The Board has resolved to oppose any court verdict that goes against the tenets of the Islamic Shariat. Spokes person of the board Maulana Abdul Rahim Quraishi has said that the board is of the view that effective implementation of darul – qaza verdicts is often obstructed on account of certain civil laws. He said that the Board need to make it loud and clear to the government that such laws will not be accepted by us.<br/><br/>He said that the Board will make a formal representation to the government to make suitable amendments in the civil laws so as to avoid any kind of confrontation with the Islamic Shariat laws.<br/><br/>The spokesperson has said that the board will come out with its resolution on several issues including expensive marriages, rising trend of dowry and other social points by Sunday evening.
