Mathew-Malinga helped Sri Lanka beat Oz in Melbourne ODI

Sri Lanka have won the first Cricket one-dayer against Australia by one-wicket. Set to score 240 runs for a win, the Lankans were reeling at 107 for eight. But Angelo Mathews and Lasith Malinga combined in the 26th over and put on 132 runs which is the highest ever ninth-wicket partnership in an One-dayer. Malinga was run out for 56 with the total at 239-9. No 11 Muttiah Muralitharan calmly hit the winning runs with 34 balls to spare leaving Mathews unbeaten on 77. The Australians have two more ODIs against Sri Lanka before the five-test Ashes series against England starts in Brisbane next month.
