Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai will meet Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today. Before flying back to India this afternoon, he is also likely to meet the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe, and representatives of the other Tamil parties in Sri Lanka. He met the representatives of the Tamil National Alliance on Sunday.

Foreign Secretary, who arrived on a three day visit to Sri Lanka on Saturday, visited the war ravaged Northern Province for a first hand assessment of the Indian aided developmental projects in the region. Mr Mathai visited Jaffna, Medawachiya, KKS Harbour and Kilinochchi in the North along with the High Commissioner Ashok K Kantha and other senior officers of the MEA.
