The maternity benefits of more than 12,150 crore rupees has been disbursed to over 2.77 crore beneficiaries so far under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Friday. She said, under the scheme more than three crore eleven lakh beneficiaries have been enrolled. Mrs Irani said, under the scheme maternity benefits can be availed only on the basis of Aadhaar number of beneficiary, to avoid any duplication or malpractices. The Minister said, the eligible beneficiary receives cash incentive directly to their Bank and Post Office Account linked to her Aadhaar Number in Direct Benefit Transfer mode.
