Match between New Zealand and Slovakia ends in a draw 15-06-2010

Today's World Cup Group F match between New Zealand and Slovakia in Rustenburg has ended in a one-one draw. Slovakia who are making their first appearance in the World Cup Finals as an independent nation were well placed for a win till the final seconds of the additional time of the match.

They had held on to their one-nil lead. Robert Vittek had given them the lead in the 50th minute. But at that stage, New Zealand stunned their rivals with the equaliser through Winston Reid's fine header.

Both the teams, thus earned their first points in World Cup Football Finals. New Zealand in their only previous appearance in the Finals in Spain in 1982, had lost all their three matches.

Today's draw has also placed all four teams in Group 'F' at the same level in the points table. Reigning champions Italy had played a similar one-one draw against Paraguay yesterday.
