In Assam, a massive security alert has been sounded across the State apprehending violence by outlawed anti-talk faction of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), led by Paresh Barua.A top State police official said, security in vital installations, including railway tracks, oil facilities, bus stands, markets and other public places have been strengthened following intelligence reports that the banned ULFA was trying to launch violent attacks.Additional forces are being deployed in the possible entrance points of militants in borders of the State.ULFA was declared an outlawed outfit by the Centre on November 28, 1990. A full-scale military offensive ‘Operation Bajrang’ was launched against the underground group on this day itself.
