Mass communication, media undergone sea change in past two decades: Venkaiah Naidu

Union Minister for Information? and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu said the mass communication and media has undergone sea change in the past two decades. <br/><br/>Addressing the IIS officers on completion of their mid-career training program at Indian School of Business in Hyderabad today he said the era of scheduled? news bulletins have been replaced by breaking news syndrome. Mr Naidu said, today all are being increasingly integrated into an information society and added that the sheer reach and impact of the media on our lives can sometimes be almost alarming. The impact of fake news or mis-information on societal fabric of the nation is tremendous, he remarked. <br/><br/>The minister felt that an effective mechanism needs to be worked out to ensure that such incidents are reduced to a minimum. He said the Government is giving importance to regional media and regional languages in the communication space in order to enhance the outreach of the Government. Mr Naidu said technology upgradation and skill development is a must for communicators. Credibility, imagination and creativity are the core values of communication, the minister added.
