Mary Kom becomes first Indian woman to clinch Gold Medal in Boxing at Asian Games

On the 12th day of the Incheon Asian Games, India bagged a gold a silver and two bronze. India, now, have 7 Gold, 9 Silver and 34 Bronze in it's kitty and is at the 11th spot.

Gold came from boxing as five time world champion MC Mary Kom bagged her first ever Asian Games Gold. In the final of the flyweight category she defeated Zhaina Shekerbekova of Kazakhstan, 2-Nil, to bag India's 7th Gold.

Meanwhile, boxer Laishram Sarita Devi continues her protest as she refused to wear the bronze medal around her neck at the podium today.

Laishram Sarita Devi had lodged a protest yesterday, against her semi final loss in 60 kg weight class for biased judgement. The protest was over ruled by the authorities.

The Women's Hockey team have clinched the bronze medal after defeating Japan 2-1. For India, Jaspreet Kaur, Vandana Kataria scored a goal each. On Thursday, Indian Men's Hockey team will battle out for the gold against arch rivals Pakistan. Alll India Radio will broadcat the live commentary of the match from 3:25 pm onwards.

In track event Tintu Luka bagged silver in the women's 800m event with a timing of 1:59.19 secs her personal best. Her compatriot Sushma Devi finished fourth in the race.

Annu Rani in Javelin Throw won the bronze medal with a 59.53 metre throw. The gold and silver in the event was taken by China. In other events Ashwini Akkunji finished fourth and Jithin Paul was disqualified in the 400-metres Hurdles. In the Men's 50 km Race Walk, Sandeep Kumar finished fourth, and Basanta Bahadur Rana fifth.

The Men's Volleyball team lost to Japan, 2-3 in the quarterfinals.

In Wednbesday's other results, Indian Wrestlers in the Greco Roman category again failed to make their mark, as Manoj Kumar, Gurpreet Singh, Sandeep Yadav and Dharmender Dalal bowed out at their respective stages.

In Basketball, Indian women's team lost to Kazakhstan in match for 5th or 6th place.

In Table Tennis, Men's singles round of 32 elimination, Soumyajit Ghosh won his match while, Achanta Sharath Kamal lost.

In the men's doubles round of 16 elimination match, Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai lost to China and Achanta Sharath Kamal and Anthony Amalraj pair lost to Japan. In Women's doubles round of 16 elimination, two Indian pair Poulomi Ghatak-Ankita Das and Madhurika Patkar-Neha Agarwal lost their respective matches.

In Taekwondo, Aarti Kakal in women's 57 kg, Anand Pandiarajan in men's 80kg, N Malhotra in men's +87kg lost their respective matches.

In Sepaktakraw, the Indian Women's team lost to China, 0-2 in a preliminary group match.
