MC Mary Kom and two other Indians entered the semi-finals of the Asian Women's Boxing Championship in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City today. Advancing to the medal round along with Mary Kom, were Shiksha in the 54-kilogram category and Priyanka Chaudhary in the 60-kilogram category. Five-time world champion Mary Kom who is also an Olympic bronze-medallist, defeated Chinese Taipei's Meng-Chieh Pin in a split verdict in the quarterfinals to make the last four stage of the light flyweight in the 48-kilogram category. She will face Japan's Tsubasa Komura in the semi-final on Tuesday.Thirty-four-year-old Mary Kom has won four gold and a silver medal in her five previous appearances at the event. Shiksha, who belongs to the Railways Sports Promotion Board defeated Uzbekistan's Ferangiz Khoshimova in the quarter-final. Priyanka Chaudhary beat Sri Lanka's Dulanjani Lankapurayalage in the quarter-final.She will face Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-Ting in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Mary Kom was today named ambassador of the AIBA Women's Youth World Championships to be held in Guwahati from the 19th of this month.
