The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd will purchase land in Mehsana district of Gujarat to set up a manufacturing facility. This was decided at the company's board meeting yesterday.

It will be Maruti's third manufacturing facility and first major establishment outside its base in Haryana. In a statement, the company said, this purchase will be subject to final negotiations on price and all legal formalities being completed.

Maruti plans to invest about 18,000 crore rupees, including 6,000 crore rupees from ancillary units, in the Gujarat plant.
