Maruti Suzuki declares lock out at its Manesar plant till probe

Maruti Suzuki India has declared a lockout at the violence-hit Manesar plant in Haryana till the probe into the violence incident is completed. Its Chairman R.C. Bhargava said that to him safety of his colleagues is more important than production at the unit. He said that Maruti cannot risk life and safety of its employees. He said production will not resume till the completion of investigation into the incident and corrective steps are taken by the government to ensure that no recurrence of violence in the plant will be allowed. Mr Bhargava said that state government has not set a time frame to complete the investigation. He said, it is in the interest of the Haryana government that the investigation is concluded fast. Mr Bhargava said Maruti Unit is not moving out of Manesar and there is no plan to shift the production facility to an alternative site.
