Maruti strike called off

The 13-day old strike at the country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar plant in Gurgaon, Haryana was called off last night after an agreement between the workers and the management. The management has agreed to reinstate all the sacked 11 workers. It will also take a lenient approach on enforcing no-work-no- pay rule of eight day's salary cut for every single day of the strike. The workers, on the other hand, agreed that they will not press for the management's recognition for a new union. The company lost production of 12,600 units valued at about 630 crores rupees during the strike period.
