The Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki India will resume its operations today amid heavy security. The plant was closed after July 18 violence that claimed the life of a senior official and injured 100 others. Maruti Suzuki India Chief Operating Officer, Administration, SY Siddiqui said, only 300 permanent workers will resume duty today and the company will operate single-shift till the time management decides to ramp up output from the plant. Initially about 150 cars will be rolled out every day, instead of 1,500-1,700 units earlier.Haryana Police has tightened security at the plant. 200 police personnel have been deployed exclusively for the facility. Haryana police have also provided 40 personal security officers for senior management officials. The company has also strengthened its own security arrangements and deployed 100 security guards.
