‘Martyrs Day’ passes off peacefully in Kashmir valley

<br/> The ‘Martyrs Day’ passed off peacefully in the Kashmir valley on Tuesday with no untoward incident reported from anywhere. Restrictions which were imposed during the day were eased by evening in the uptown Srinagar city. Traffic was seen moving on the uptown roads and even pavement vendors also came out.<br/>Sopore town however continued to remain under curfew which was reimposed there on Monday after incidents of stone pelting during the relaxation period.<br/> Mr Omar Abdullah held about an hour long discussions with the Governor Mr N.N Vohra on the recent developments in the state and security related issues. He also apprised Mr Vohra about the all party meeting held on Monday and the thrust was on future course of action.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Union Minister Farooq Abdullah met the Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. He is understood to have discussed the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and steps being taken by the State Government to bring back normalcy. Later he told reporters that an all party delegation of the state will soon meet the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. In reply to a question he said that there is no threat to the Omar government.
