Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said, maritime terrorism is a big threat with huge economic implications. The Home Minister said this at a meeting in Mumbai to review coastal security. He said the government is carrying out a security audit of all major and non-major ports to identify vulnerable points in coastal security. <br/><br/>Mr Singh stressed the need to make the coastal security foolproof. He said, after the deadly 26/11 attacks many initiatives have been taken to strengthen coastal security. Rajnath Singh said, Indian Coastguard is working to integrate the fisherman community through Community Interaction Programme.<br/><br/>Mr. Singh urged the maritime States and union territories to accord due priority to coastal security. He further stressed on increased co-ordination among Marine Police, Coast Guard and Indian Navy for fool-proof security of Country's coast line. <br/><br/>Mr. Singh added that 38 more radars are to be installed in addition to existing 45 to ensure gapless surveillance of India's coast line. AIR correspondent reports, Home Ministers, Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police of nine coastal states and four union territories, besides dignitaries and higher officials of departments concerned are taking part in the meeting.
