State BJP President in Bihar Dr. C.P. Thakur has resigned in protest against the distribution of tickets for the forthcoming Assembly elections. Dr. Thakur submitted his resignation to party President Nitin Gadkari. He also announced that he would not participate in the election campaign. He said he has been marginalised in matters of policy decisions. The party had denied ticket to his son. JU(U) National President Sharad Yadav met Thakur and requested him to reconsider his decisionAIR Patna correspondent reports that supporters of Thakur demonstrated against the alleged dictatorship of senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi. Janta Dal (United) National President Sharad Yadav met Thakur and requested him to reconsider his decision.The Congress has announced its fifth list of candidates for 29 more Assembly segments. With this, the party has announced its candidates for 219 seats so far out of the total 243. The Congress is going it alone in the Bihar Assembly elections and will be contesting all the seats. The party has fielded a number of women candidates and from the minority communities.Scrutiny process for the second phase of elections has completed. About 682 candidates have filed their nomination process for this phase. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till today.
