Defending Champion Germany outclassed England 4-1 in the first semifinal to reach the final of World Cup Hockey in New Delhi. Germany played aggressive hockey right from the beginning and took the lead in the 6th minute. The team scored again in the 11th minute to take a 2-0 lead. England managed to score just one goal. In the second half too, Germany dominated the proceedings and scored two more goals to seal the final berth. Germany now eyes a hat-trick in the Hockey World Cup, as it had won the World Cup in 2002 and 2006.

In the second semi-final, the match between Australia and Holland is now on.

Earlier, Canada defeated Pakistan 3-2 and moved to 11th position while Pakistan finished last at 12th position.
