The Marathwada region of Maharashtra has been reeling under acute water scarcity situation. <br/><br/>Eight districts of this region have nine major dams and only eight percent usable water is presently available in these reservoirs.56 medium and 499 minor projects from this region presently contain 23 and 13 percent water of their actual capacity respectively. <br/><br/>The state government is making every effort to meet the water demand in the region. Currently in all the eight districts water is being supplied by tankers to the severely affected 289 villages and 143 hamlets.
