National award-winning Marathi film, 'Court' has been selected to officially represent India at the 88th Oscars next year in the Best Foreign Film category. A commentary on India's judicial system, 'Court' has been directed by debutant Chaitanya Tamhane.<br/><br/>Secretary General of the Film Federation of India, Supran Sen, told PTI yesterday that there were 30 films in the running this year, but Court has been selected as the official entry to the Oscars.<br/><br/>Court was also named the Best Picture at the National film awards this year, besides winning 17 international honours after being premiered at the Venice International Film Festival last year.<br/><br/><br/>Meanwhile, filmmaker Rahul Rawail, who was a part of the selection jury that chose 'Court', has resigned from his post citing differences with chairperson Amol Palekar. <br/><br/>Mr Rawail said in a tweet that he was not against the selection of the Marathi film and the decision to choose 'Court' was unanimous. He said that he was upset with the way Palekar behaved.
