Maharashtra's Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Mr. Chhagan Bhujbal today said that the Maratha youth are being misguided to believe that their rights are being snatched by OBCs. Addressing an all-party OBC rally in Jalna district this afternoon, Mr. Bhujbal said one should understand the procedure for granting reservations and the reason for Marathas not being able to secure a quota till date.
''
''Recalling the contribution of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde in ensuring that OBCs get reservations, Mr. Bhujbal said protests had erupted even after the Mandal Commission gave its recommendations and the same was also challenged in court. He said the Supreme Court directed every state to form a backward class commission way back in the 1990s and the OBCs cannot be held responsible if the Maharashtra State Backward Classes Commission did not see it fit to accord the backward class tag to the Maratha community until recently.
''
''Launching a scathing attack on Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil without naming him, Mr. Bhujbal asked why no questions were raised when more than seventy policemen were injured while trying to persuade him to end his charade of a fast. Meanwhile, Mr. Jarange Patil continues to hold rallies across the state.
''
