Maoists today unleashed a wave of attacks in Jharkhand and Bihar damaging public properties. The violence occurred during a two-day bandh called by CPI (Maoist) in protest against Centre's moves to launch a crackdown on them. Maoists set ablaze three trucks on the National Highway in Giridih district of Jharkhand, while one oil tanker was put on fire in Dhanbad district. The naxalites fired indiscriminately on a bus injuring three passengers. They also blew up a stretch of railway tracks at Jarandih in the district. The extremists blasted Road Bridge by damaging it partially. In view of the bandh, the State administration has hightened security arrangements all over the state including the state capital.In Bihar, outlawed group blew up a mobile tower at Barki Salaya village under Mali police station in Aurangabad district. Vehicular traffic has been affected in naxal affected area especially in rural belt.The Maoist Bandh had a substantial impact in Jangal Regions of West Bengal like Khatra, Raipur, Sarengaranibandh, Barikpur of West Bankura District. Shops and business establishments were by and large closed. No untoward incidents from this region have been reported.
