Maoists should be isolated: CPIM

The CPIM today called for launching a vigorous campaign to effectively deal with the Maoist violence in the country. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, after two day central committee meeting, Party general secretary Prakash Karat said efforts should be made to isolate the Maoists.<br/>He expressed concern at the continuing price rise of food items and charged the government of pursuing the economic policies which are conducive to strengthen the strategic ties with the United States. Criticising government's economic policies, he said the central committee strongly opposed the disinvestment of shares in the profitable Public Sector Undertakings.<br/>Mr Karat urged the government to resist the pressure from the United States and other developed countries to abandon the Kyoto protocol and UNFCC framework. Reiterating that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India, the CPI(M) general secretary said that the party favours strong ties with Beijing.
