In Odisha, Maoists have freed abducted Malkangiri district magistrate and collector R Vineel Krishna. He was set free near cut off Duliamba forest area in Malkangiri distirict yesterday.After being released, Krishna was received by huge crowd at his official residence and greeted by family members. Talking to newsmen after the release, the Malkangiri collector said the Maoists behaved well with him. Krishna also said radio was the only way of communication with the outer world during the hostage period.The Malkangiri collector was kidnapped by the Maoists from the hilly terrains of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district on February 16 last along with junior engineer Pabitra Mohan Majhi. Majhi was released on Wednesday by the Maoists at Malkangiri. The Odisha Government resolved all the 14 demands put forward by the Maoists in its discussion with Maoist appointed mediators, Prof G Haragopal, Prof R Someswar Rao and Dandapani Mohanty at Bhubaneswar in the last four days of negotiations.Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that the commitments made to the Maoists by the Odisha Government through the mediators for the release of Malkangiri collector R Vineel Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Mohan Majhi will be fulfilled. Reacting to the release of the duo by the Maoists, Patnaik said he was very glad that both Krishna and Majhi had been released. He, however, said the Odisha Government did not bow down before the Maoists.
