The Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Shri C M Jatua has said that the Maoists problem can be solved through meaningful dialogue. Addressing the media soon after arriving at Port Blair this morning, the Minister denied the allegations by certain political parties that Trinamool Congress Chief Ms. Mamta Banerjee is pro-Maoist. He said, in the recent meeting at Lalgarh, the headquarters of Maoists in west Bengal, she only called upon them to shun violence and come for dialogue to find a long lasting solution to the problem. He alleged that the CPI(M) in West Bengal is importing Maoists from Nepal for their political gains. He also pointed out that the Centre has already declared Maoists as an illegal out fit. The Minister also visited All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra at Port Blair. He said though people prefer private TV channels for entertainment, they still rely upon only Akashvani and Doordarshan channels as far as news is concerned. The visit of Mr. Jatua is considered to be crucial as the Trinamool Congress has been launched in Andamans just 40 days ago and the party is contesting the Municipal and Panchayat elections to be held in the islands 19th of this month.
