Maoists dig up roads in bid to thwart 1st phase polls in Odisha tonmorrow

In Odisha, Maoists have dug up roads at several places in Mathili block of Malkangiri district in an attempt to disrupt the first phase elections tomorrow.

According to reports, the Maoists have prevented movement of traffic by digging up roads at Mahupadar, Kamalapalli, Salimi, Tulasipadar, Haldikund, Tembapalli and Kasrabhata of Mathili block where they have put up posters and banners urging people to boycott the elections.

They also warned the polling officials of trial in 'praja courts' if they do not stay away from duty. The Maoists have also given a bandh call in four districts, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Gajapati, of the state going for polls tomorrow in the first phase.
