Maoists damage railway infrastructure in a big way

Maoists have damaged the railway infrastructure in a big way since the 1st of this month. Two sleepers were damaged and at least 25 slippers removed between Kurahni and Turki stations of the East Central Railway affecting rail traffic. They also set on fire two buses at Parsotinpur Bazar under Maker police station of Saran district. About 50 ultras raided the buses, set the parked buses afire and fled leaving behind leaflets asking people to make the bandh successful. Guerrillas damaged railway tracks in two places in Bihar, resulting in four coaches of a train being derailed and disruption of traffic. The Ballia express was derailed near Hajipur, about 30 km from Patna, when Maoists damaged the railway track, during their 48-hour strike. In another incident, Maoists blasted a track near Mansi railway station in Khagaria district. The track was blown up and train services were hit for hours.<br/>
