Maoists blow up rail track, explode bombs in Jharkhand; Polling continues uninterrupted

In Jharkhand, the voting is underway peacefully for six Lok Sabha seats, despite two incidents of disturbances by the naxals.

Earlier today, naxals blew up railway track in Bokaro district and in another incident,caused ten blasts near a polling station at Peertand in Giridih.

No one was injured and polling continued even after that. In another incident, three CRPF personnel were injured when naxals caused landmine blasts near Lugu Pahari under Gomia police station in Bokaro district.

The injured have been airlifted to Ranchi.

Our Ranchi correspondent reports that polling in Jharkhand is progressing well as 27 per cent votes have been cast till 11am. The naxal affected areas of Ghatsheela and Bahragora of Jamshedpur is witnessing heavy poling, according to latest reports.

Similarly, some other naxal affected areas are also seeing good polling. Barring few incidence like one in Singhbhum where a Presiding Officer was arrested for favoring Congress candidate, and two minor fracas for a short while, polling have been continuous and peaceful, and it would continue till 4pm.
