Maoists' bandh call disrupts normal life in parts of W Bengal

In West Bengal, normal life has been affected in some pockets of West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura districts due to 24 hour bandh called by the Maoist backed peoples' committee against police atrocities. The bandh has been called to protest against recent killing of Umakant Mahato, the prime accused in Jnaneswari Express Sabotage case. Quoting official sources, AIR Kolkata correspondent A Chakraborty reports that shops and business establishments, educational institutions are closed in Raipur, Ranibandh, Saranga, Barikul in Bankura, Bandwan, Balarampur, Baghmundi in Purulia, Jhargram, Goaltore, Belpahadi in West Midnapore district. Public transport are also off the road in these areas. However, there is no impact of bandh in other parts of three districts.
