In the second Maoist attack this week, heavily-armed ultras stormed Phulwaria- Korasi village in Bihar's Jamui district and fired indiscriminately, killing 10 villagers and leaving 12 others injured five of them critically. Over 150 heavily-armed Maoists swooped down on the village last night and burnt over 30 thatched houses and fired a hail of bullets killing the villagers. Additional Director General of Police U.S. Dutta told AIR that it is a kind of revenge killing for the villager’s refusal to toe the line of Naxals. Over one dozen cattle were also burnt alive. Senior police officials are camping on the site and a massive combing operation is on to nab the Maoists. The injured have been admitted to hospitals at Sikandra and Jamui, where condition of five persons was stated to be critical. Maoists had given a three-day bandh call in eastern part of Bihar to protest the killing of their activists, which ended last night. The latest attack came two days after Maoists killed 24 Eastern Frontier Rifle jawans at Silda in West Midnapore after setting their camp on fire.
