‘Maoists attack on West Bengal police camp outrageous: Chidambaram

Strongly condemning the attack on a police camp in West Midnapur district , the Home Minister today said that a thorough review will reveal how the camp with adequate strength was overrun in the broad day light by the CPI(Maoists). <br/><br/>Twenty eight security personnel were killed in the attack yesterday . Mr. P Chidambaram said that there are indications of failure in some aspects. <br/><br/>A team of security experts will be going to probe the attack . In a strongly worded statement, Mr. Chidambaram described the attack on the police camp as outragious saying that this was yet another an attempt by the CPI(Maoists) to overawe the established authority in the state. <br/><br/>He also called on the sympathisers of the CPI(Maoists) to condemn the violence unleashed by them. AIR correspondentreports that Mr Chidambaram minced no words when questioned the the moral and intellectuall support being extended to the CPI Maosists. <br/><br/>How can well meaning organisations find legitimacy in the armed liberation struggle bythe CPI Maoists Mr Chidambaram asked , wondering how the simple truth could escape the sympathisers that that the aim of this banned organisation is to seize power through mindless violence . <br/><br/>More than 500 people lost their lives in Naxal violence last year and all pleas by the government that it was ready to talk to them if theyleft the path of violence have gone unheeded . The Home Minister said that armed liberation struggle by the CPI Maoists has to be rejected by every one to end the violence by the left wing extremism which is posing the gravest threat to the internal security today.
