Around 31,000 people in violence-hit areas of Assam have returned home from relief camps in the last 24 hours. With this, total number of people who had left camps has gone up to 60,000. State Home department sources said 42 relief camps had been closed in the violence-affected Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri districts.Another 4.45 lakh people are still being sheltered at 277 relief camps. District administrations distributed food items, including baby food, in relief camps. Clothes are also being given to the inmates.The State Government has set up 57 security pickets out of 104 so far at the vulnerable areas. Patrolling has been continuing by the security forces at 65 areas.A team of National Human Rights Commission NHRC will visit the violence-marred areas on Monday to take stock of the relief and rehabilitation works.
