The release on parole of Manu Sharma, the main accused in the Jessica Lal murder case has invited flak from Jessica Lal's family. Jassica's sister Sabrina said that illness of mother of Manu Sharma was cited as the reason for the request for parole but she was seen at a function in Chandigarh. She alleged that is misuse of the provision.<br/><br/> When asked about , the Delhi Chief Minister defended the decision to grant parole to Manu Sharma saying that the request for parole comes from the jail authorities on account of good behaviour which is later reviewed by the Home Secretary and top police official for acceptance by the government. She said that there are certain norms and procedures which are followed in this regard. She rejected the allegation that her government had overlooked the established procedures while granting special parole to Manu Sharma. Manu Sharma who is serving a life sentence at Tihar jail was recently granted parole.
