Manoj Kumar, sixth Indian boxer, advances to 2nd round of 64kg category

Commonwealth Games Gold medalist Manoj Kumar has become the sixth Indian boxer to advance to the 2nd round of 64 kg category of the 2011 AIBA World Boxing Championships. At Baku in Azerbaijan today, Manoj Kumar notched up a comfortable 17-11 win over Valentino Knowles of Bahamas in his opening round bout of the light welter weight division. Manoj now joins L. Devendro (49 kg), Suranjoy Singh (52 kg), Akhil Kumar (56 kg), Dinesh Kumar (81 kg) and Vikas Krishnan (69kg) who have already made a place in the round of 32 in their respective weight category.Manoj Kumar will now take on European Champion Raymond Moylette of Ireland in the 'last 32' round. The Irish boxer advanced by beating Arturs Ahmetovs of Latvia.
