Manoj Kumar becomes fifth Indian boxer to enter pre-quarterfinals

On Day 4 of the competitions in the London Olympics yesterday, badminton star Parupalli Kashyap and boxers L. Devendro Singh and Manoj Kumar came up with stellar displays. All the three cruised into the pre-quarterfinals in their respective events. But India failed to add any medal to the bronze won by rifle shooter Gagan Narang.

At the Excel Arena late last night, Manoj Kumar became the fifth Indian boxer to cruise into the pre-quarterfinals of the men's boxing event. In the light welter 64 kg category bout, Manoj started cautiously but gradually opened up to prevail over his Turkeministan opponent, Serdar Hudayberdiyev, with a 13-7 verdict.
