After Amit Phangal and Gaurav Bidhuri, Manoj Kumar and Kavinder Bisht continued India's good run at the 19th World Boxing Championship in the German port city of Hamburg. They both entered the second round of the championship. Manoj defeated Moldovan Vasilii Belous 3-2 in the 69 kilogram welterweight contest. Kavinder, on the other hand, edged past Japan's Ryusei Baba in the 52 kilogram flyweight bout, which ended 3-2 in his favour. Kavinder will next be up against third-seeded Algerian Mohamed Flissi. Awaiting Manoj in the second round is fourth-seeded Venezuelan Gabriel Maestre Perez. However, Asian Games bronze-medallist Satish Kumar bowed out of the competition after losing his opening contest in the plus 91 kilogram category.
