Manohar Parrikar rules out disinvestment of defence PSUs

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has ruled out any disinvestment in defence undertakings and said that retaining the defence public sector units is necessary for the armed forces. Parrikar also said that newly unveiled Defence Procurment Procedure provides a level playing field for all stakeholders. He also said the Defence Ministry may take a review of the new Defence Procurement Procedure DPP – after gaining six months experience from it. He said the motto of his ministry is to create trust in among the defence department and forces. <br/><br/>He was speaking at the Global investors' summit organised by ASSOCHAM at Defence Expo in South Goa today. <br/><br/>Mr. Parrikar flagged off India's first indigenously built Sonar Dome designed and developed by DRDO at the exposition site. The dome will be fitted with the submarines and ships to enhance their surveillance capacities.<br/><br/>Mr. Parrikar and Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, today addressed a seminar on Defence Offset : challenges and opportunities in the Defence Expo and Mr. Parrikar also addressed another seminar on Advances in Ship building technology.
